Who Can Volunteer?

Youth and students (minimum of 14 years of age), adults, retirees, families, community groups, businesses can all volunteer. If you are enthusiastic, dependable and committed, then you have what you need to volunteer.

Youth/Students

Scholarships/Grants
Post-secondary student volunteers who volunteer at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre, the Health Sciences Centre (General Hospital) and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital are eligible to apply for scholarships offered through their associated hospital auxiliaries. As well, student volunteers may apply to become summer students at various sites throughout the region. These positions are funded through federal and/or provincial grants.

References and Employment Opportunities
A letter of reference can be helpful when applying for paid employment or entrance into educational programs. Once you have established a consistent volunteer history, consult the Coordinator about obtaining a letter for reference. If applying for employment with Eastern Health, please visit careers.

Adults

Eastern Health has many exciting volunteer opportunities for adults of all ages. Whether you’re young or young at heart, there are sure to be volunteer opportunities or activities to pique your interest and provide fulfillment.

If you are approaching retirement or are currently retired, why not contribute your time as an Eastern Health volunteer? You can stay connected with your colleagues, hone existing skills or learn new ones, and make the transition from working life to retirement an enriching one! Furthermore, if you apply for a volunteer placement with Eastern Health within one year of your retirement, you forgo the need to complete various volunteer application requirements.
